Goblins, Trolls, Wizards, and Cultists
Here we meet some of the other players in the corruption of humanity. I am especially fond of the goblins, and they've even made an appearance in another of my works (not saying which one because that would ruin the surprise when the other work is released).
Other-realmer: a generic term used for any creature who comes through a portal into the Earthly plane.
Goblins
Goblins are the portal makers and creativity stealers. These creatures use human creativity that they siphon from writers, artists, dreamers, and anyone else they come in contact with. The perfect creative project that is started, worked on in a cafe or park a few times, and then abandoned...there were probably goblins stealing some of the power of the project. They can turn the ephemeral force of creating into a more solid nature (a dust to unlock doors after stealing from a author who writes about a thief for example) and if in pinch can use the power of human fear, but this can have side effects so is rarely utilized. Grey skinned, short in stature, and often a bit misshapen goblins tend to be on the conventionally unattractive side, but there are exceptions especially among the females who can be wispy in appearance and almost graceful in movement.
Trolls
Trolls are oddly unimpressive. They aren't known for being particularly beautiful or intelligent and are often used as work horses or or scapegoats. Unfortunately their lack of intelligence is accompanied by gullibility and a level of greed that often land them in trouble. Generally thickly built, if not tall they are at least wide, they are hell and the goblin realm's preferred manual labor, a position that pays the trolls well and can afford them safety from wizards' and others' schemes.
Wizards
Wizards come in all shapes and sizes since they are humans. The difference between the average person and a wizard is that they, through either genetics or by contact with the right demons, have found and tapped into a powerful magic humans are capable of but often don't realize exists. They worked with the demons behind the scenes to make power grabs until they had the right moment to use their goblin allies to burst open portals into hell.
Cultists
Cultists are fanatics following the wizards of the world hoping the more powerful will toss a few crumbs of magic and power their way. Occasionally you'll find the true believer among the masses of demon and magic worshipers, but more often than not these are easily corrupted and drained humans. They tend to take on more skeletal features and lose coloring to their skin, hair, and even eyes as the demons and wizards of their religion drain them of any life force or power they have.
